Meet the Camp Kaylie Advisory Board

      As a revolutionary camp with a noble mission of integration, Camp Kaylie has inspired and engaged dynamic lay leadership across the community.


      Elly Kleinman

      Well known community activist and renowned philanthropist in the community, Mr Kleinman is Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Camp Kaylie and is Co-Chairman of the Board of OHEL. He is the founder of the Americare Companies, the leader in providing home health care, and leverages his business acumen to OHEL and many other organizations. The Elly and Brochie Kleinman Regional Center in Far Rockaway is a licensed family clinic serving individuals and families from the Long Island and Queens areas.


      Moishe Hellman

      Co-President of OHEL and long time real estate developer in NYC. Mr. Hellman is active in many institutions including many Yeshivot and Maimonides Medical Center. He is renowned for bringing to fruition OHEL’s evolving and expansive vision and for articulating that OHEL’s children are ‘our’ children. Under Mr Hellman’s leadership OHEL has grown to a $50 million agency that serves and elevates the lives of thousands of individuals and families in every day.


      Mel Zachter

      A resident of Staten Island, NY, Mel Zachter is a long-time devoted friend and supporter of OHEL. Mel has been an active board member of OHEL for more than 30 years and currently serves as one of OHEL’s Co-presidents as well as Treasurer. Mel is an Executive Committee Partner at Loeb & Troper, LLP. Together with his wife, Phyllis both are very active in OHEL, as well as being engaged many other community caused and charities. Mel has established the Mel and Phyllis Zachter OHEL Endowment Fund.


      Jack Jaffa

      Jack Jaffa is a well-respected and an influential real estate industry veteran.  Under his direction and leadership Jack Jaffa & Associates, a consulting firm that he founded, provides valuable expertise to prominent real estate owners and developers in the New York area.  Essential centerpieces of his company’s advisory services include removal of violations, representations in court, tax abatement and exemption programs and cost segregation accounting studies.  Mr. Jaffa’s distinguished commercial success is not surprising given his differentiated hard work ethic. More impressively, his continued commitment to various philanthropic endeavors, including his extensive support for OHEL’s programs, leaves many of us in admiration of his seemingly endless generosity worthy of the highest levels of recognition.  


      Rivka Wilamowski

      Rivka Wilamowski lives in Lawrence with her husband Shlomo. They send two daughters to Manhattan High School, one daughter to Shulamith and their three boys go to Yeshiva Ketana. Two of their daughters will be attending Camp Kaylie this summer, one of whom is a returning camper.




      Shloime Dachs

      OHEL & Shloime Dachs are not strangers! Shloime has performed hundreds of times for OHEL and he and his wife Libby, regularly open their hearts and home to many OHEL residents throughout the year. He is a board member of both OHEL and Camp Kaylie. Shloime Dachs exploded onto the Jewish music scene in the last decade with a brilliant debut album, 'One Day At A Time.' Since then, his magical voice has entertained and dazzled thousands of listeners in concerts and weddings throughout the world.


      Jay Kestenbaum

      Jay is the VP of the Board of Trustees of OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services, and serves as the Chair of the OHEL Development Committee. He also sits on the Board of Camp Kaylie, OHEL’s unique sleep-away camp that is fully inclusional of children with Special Needs. He is celebrating his 20th year as an OHEL Board Member, having devoted countless hours on behalf of OHEL’s needy children and families. Since 2008, Jay is the Sr. VP of Sales & Purchasing for Airgas Refrigerants, Inc. subsidiary of Airgas, Inc. (NYSE-ARG), after their acquisition of his company, Refron, Inc. where he held the title of President and CEO for over 30 years. Jay and his wife Chani live on Long Island and are the proud parents of seven children and many grandchildren.
